Phyllis McGlory, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2002.

Visitation, Carr-Tenney Mortuary at 2621 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, Arizona on Thursday, January 9th from 6:00-9:00 p.m. with a memorial at 7:00 p.m.

Graveside services on Friday, January 10th, 1:00 p.m. at her resting place at the VA National Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Az.

Phyllis McGlory, after a long courageous battle with heart, diabetes, dementia, and kidney disease passed away at her daughter and son-in-law's home in Tempe, Az., Sunday, Jan. 5th, 2003. She was surrounded all day with family and friends and passed away very peacefully. She was born in Northboro, Mass on October 1st, 1919 and was the daughter/ sister of Stanley and Anna L. Simpson and Virginia S. Holmquist who preceded her.

She graduated from North-boro High School in 1939 and was captain of her basketball team also Vice-Pres. of her class. She went to nursing school and became an RN. She was a LT. in the US Army Nurse Corps and served in WWII, she was stationed over seas in New Guinea, Philippines, Brisbane Australia, in the states at Camp Stoneman, Calif., Lowell General Hospital, Ft. Devens, Mass.

She married Kenneth E. McGlory in 1946 in Northboro, Mass. She had two children, Ken retired Phoenix Fire Dept. wife Sherry of Overguaard, one granddaughter, Angela Cueto-Salgado husband Darin of Gilbert, Az., Gilbert Polchow of Las Vegas, Nevada, Mark Polchow of Tempe, Az.; two great-grandchildren Anthony and Mackenzie of Gilbert, Az., many friends and family back on the east coast.

She was a member of WOSL Phoenix/Cholla and also Post #43 of the American Legion in Phoenix. She moved from Westboro, Mass. after retiring from Westboro State Hospital as a supervisor in 1963 to Prescott, AZz. to work at Ft. Whipple VA Hospital; was there until a transfer to Big Spring, Texas VA from 1968 to 1970. Transferred to the Tucson VA until she retired in 1976.

She then took care of her husband and retired in Apache Junction to be closer to her children and grandchildren in 1982, until the passing in 1985 of her husband. She moved to Chandler in 1989 and then into a retirement home in Mesa in 2001 after mutli strokes. She moved to Tempe in 2002 and lived with her daughter and son-in-law until she passed away.

Ken and Kathi want to thank the many people that helped with their Mom's care over the last months, Tender Loving Care of Mesa RN's MaryBeth, Sherry, Marjorie, her Aides Connie, Celita, her PT. Fred and OT. Jacque, Plaza Health Care of Scottsdale, sub acute ward with Tom and all the nurses and aides, Desert Sam. Hospital Mesa, 4B-4C-4D when she was in and out of there many times. For her final journey home Odyssey Hospice Health Care inpatient home in Mesa with her RN David nnd Carl Hayden VA Medical and Major Medical for all the equipment she had.

You are invited to say your goodbyes at Carr-Tenney Mortuary at 2621 S. Rural Rd., Tempe, Az., Thurs., Jan. 9th, 2003 from 6:00-9:00 p.m. with a memorial at 7:00 p.m. or her resting place at the VA National Cemetery, 23029 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Az.
