The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 7, 2003 Vitalis W. Hammond, 90, of Gilbert passed away Wednesday February 5, 2003 in Gilbert. Born in Mt. Blanchard, Ohio in 1912, Mr. Hammond was a machine shop foreman for the Salt River Project where he retired in 1975. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and rock hound. He was preceded in 1994 by the death of his wife Audrey. He is survived by his children, Marlene Davis, Roxana Hilton, LeAnn Boring and Gyland Hammond. Brother-in-law John Waldman and sister-in-law Margaret Hammond. 9 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled for Friday February 7, 2003 from 5 till 8 p.m. at Carr Tenney Mortuary 2621 S. Rural Rd. Tempe; Az. Funeral service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Saturday February 8, 2003 at Carr Tenney. Interment to follow service.
