The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona February 7, 2003 James "Red' Newkirk, 80, of Strawberry, Arizona, passed away February 5, 2003 in Strawberry, AZ. He was born on December 12, 1922 in Beaudry, Arkansas. Mr. Newkirk came to Arizona in 1931. He worked as a superintendent of pre-stress concrete and was active in the Pine-Strawberry Horseman's Association. He is survived by his wife, Carol Newkirk of Strawberry, AZ; daughters, Brenda Dickinson of Carlsbad, CA, Carol Burdett of Las Vegas, NV; son, Steve Newkirk of Santa Ynez, CA; 8 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm, Sunday, February 9, 2003 at Messinger Pinnacle Peak Mortuary, 8555 E. Pinnacle Peak Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. Family Requests Donations to: RTA Hospice, 107 E.
