Gilbert (Gil) Kunow

Gil Kunow passed away at the age of 80 on Nov. 11, 2009, Veterans
Day, in Post Falls, Idaho. Gil was born on Jan. 5, 1929, in Long
Island, N.Y.

He proudly served his country from 1950-1952 in the army during the
Korean War with service in Japan.

Gil was married to Grace Sniffin on Nov. 16, 1952, and they had three
children, Gary, Gail and Glenn.

In 1963, Gil moved the family from New York to Arizona, wanting to
have the life of a "westerner." Gil started a food brokers business
in the 1970s, which he subsequently sold, and Gil and the family
moved to Prescott in 1978. That same year Gil started Kunow Insurance
Agency here in town. The agency is still owned by the Kunow family
today, currently operated by Anthony Kunow, Gil's grandson.

Gil retired in 1993 and moved up to Post Falls, Idaho, with his
beloved wife Grace in 2001. Gil always loved the outdoors, hunting
and fishing were a passion of his. He also loved his German shepherd
dogs and Arabian horse. He was a successful businessman who was
devoted to his family and his country.

Gil is preceded in death by son Gary and daughter Gail.

He leaves behind wife Grace; son Glenn and wife Dawn; grandson
Anthony Kunow and wife Lyda; grandson Ryan Boshes of Phoenix;
granddaughter Kimberly and husband Terry Womble; granddaughter Abby
and husband James Hiner; son-in-law Jeffrey Boshes of Phoenix; and
five great-grandchildren.
