1934 - 2009

Jeanne E. Burnett passed away on Nov. 24, 2009 from complications from metastasis breast cancer, with her husband Jay and other loving family members at her side. She had survived 20 wonderful and fun-filled years since her original bout with breast cancer.

Born in Seattle, Wash. in December 1934, she attended schools in her home area. In December of her senior year at Ballard High School she met her life partner and husband, Jay. There were married three years later in 1955. Jeanne and Jay just celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary this past October.

Right after their marriage, Jeanne insisted that Jay attend the University of Washington. When Jay asked her what he was going to study, her reply was (although she steadfastly denied it) "you're going to be a certified public accountant." Jeanne worked as a bookkeeper and Jay worked at part time jobs for the next several years until his graduation from college in 1959.

In 1963, the CPA firm Jay was with offered him a business opportunity and the Burnett's and their two young children moved north to Anchorage, Alaska. In 1965, they started skiing with sons Brian and Keven, who were then three and five, at Mt. Alyeska just south of their home in Anchorage. A few years later they purchased a cabin at the foot of the mountain and spent most weekends and vacations there, winter and summer. For most of the family's 39 years in Anchorage, Jay had his own practice and Jeanne was his bookkeeper and secretary. They worked well together. Jay retired his full time active practice in 2002 and the couple moved to their Sun Valley, Idaho condo for the next two years. On a retirement house-hunting trip to Arizona in late 2004, they found and fell in love with the town of Prescott and purchased their present home in the development of Prescott Lakes where Jay will continue to reside.

During Jeanne's illness their many friends in the Prescott Lakes Community, whom they met through their membership in the Prescott Lakes Golf Club, provided untold companionship and friendship and supplied meals galore. Jeanne was, and Jay will be ever grateful to each and every one who gave assistance during this period.

Jeanne and Jay had two sons, Brian and Keven. Brian lives with his wife Ellen in Girdwood, Alaska at Mt. Alyeska and Keven lives in Denver with his wife Lisha, daughter Peyton and son Jake. In addition, Keven has a daughter, Bridget, living in Boise, Idaho.

Jeanne asked that her ashes be spread at Mt. Alyeska, Alaska, where they had ski cabins and spent much of their time enjoying their boys and the young friends and parents of those friends. It was a joyous and memorable time for the whole family.

Jeanne was predeceased by her parents, Frank and Laura Earnheart.

In lieu of any other acknowledgement, the family suggests contributions to the Susan B. Komen for the Cure Foundation for the fight against breast cancer or the charity of your choice.
