The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Thursday, January 9, 2003 Leon Keith Shepherd went home January 2, 2003 after a brief battle with cancer. He was born April 20, 1917 in Booneville, Missouri. Shep, or Doc, as his friends knew him came to Chandler from Missouri in 1927 and graduated from Chandler High School in 1934. He was preceded in death by Clarriece Katherine (Garrett) Shepherd-Pope the mother of his four children and his wife Anna Mae (Starr) Shepherd of Vernon Texas. He is survived by his brother, Robert K. Shepherd of Yuma, Az., double-cousin Charles Shepherd of Eugene, Ore.; four children, Mike of Glendale, Az., Pat of La Cresenta, Calif., Bob of Tucson, Az., and Pam of Phoenix, Az.; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews. cousins, etc. Memorial Service will be at Westwood Community Baptist Church, 3444 N. 19th Avenue, Phoenix, Saturday, January 11th at 11 a.m. Memorials to Hospice of the Valley or Rainbow Acres in Camp Verde.
