The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Sunday, January 12, 2003 Ruth Bartak, 75, of Phoenix, Arizona, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, died on January 7, 2003, surrounded by her family after a brief illness. She was born in Chicago, IL, on Oct. 3, 1927, to Samuel and Rose Bofman. They owned Al-Bar Draperies & Carpets and had apartment and retail properties. She made friends with many people through her businesses, but always put her family first. Family and home were the center of her life and she loved sharing her great cooking with everyone. She also was a devoted gardener who surrounded her home with a variety of plants that she tended with care. Her most special times were spent with grandchildren and she truly loved their visits, calls and cards. She lived in an honest, simple fashion as she preferred, and will be remembered for her straight-forward ways. She was a member of Temple Chai. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 13th, at Sinai Mortuary, 4538 N. 16th Street, Phoenix, with burial at Phoenix Memorial Park. A gathering will follow at the Schotz home.
