Herman Richard Rogers

Herman Richard Rogers, 81, died Friday, Dec. 9, 2005 in Show Low.

He was born and raised in Snowflake where he attended Elementary School and graduated from Snowflake Union High School. After high school he served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Northern States Mission for two years.

When he returned home he married Doris Lewis of Show Low in the Mesa Temple. They made their home in Show Low. Herman worked at the sawmill in McNary for several years before going to work for the Arizona Highway Department where he stayed until he retired. Herman was always active in the church and served in various capacities whenever called upon, including scouting and in the Bishopric for a time. He always enjoyed being at home with his family and loved raising a garden.

Herman is survived by his wife, Doris Rogers, of Show Low; three sons, Richard (Sandra) Rogers of Lake Havasu City, Mark (Ardyce) Rogers of Phoenix and James (Dana) Rogers of Gilbert; one daughter, Nathalyn Alexander of Show Low; 17 grandchildren, three great grandchildren; two sisters, Loree Hammock of Oklahoma and Sara Ann (Walt) Bonney of Utah.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Dorcie Fackrell.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday Dec. 19 at the Downtown Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Show Low. A viewing will be held Sunday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Owens Mortuary in Show Low and one hour prior to services at the Church on Monday.

Interment will be in the Show Low Cemetery.
