The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 02/28/2006 Robert Earl Eckstein, 78, died Feb. 20, 2006 in Glendale. Robert was born Nov. 21, 1927 in Stratford, Iowa. As a young man, he served in the United States Navy. He later worked as an ammunition inspector with the civil service for 15 years. Robert enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up and staying close to home. However, it was not unusual to see him on his scooter in downtown St. Johns, visiting with his friends and acquaintances. His survivors are his wife Norma, St. Johns; sons Daniel (Marilyn) Eckstein, Ely, Iowa; Steve (Rhonda) Eckstein, Baileyton, AL; Kevin (Patti) Eckstein, Peoria; and Scott (Boots) Eckstein, Cliff, N.M.; daughters Melody (Randall) Parkinsen, South Ogdon, Utah; and Mari Morales, St. Johns; 11 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents, a son Leon Neil, two brothers and one sister. Funeral services were Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, St. Johns Stake Center. He was interred at Westside Cemetery, St. Johns.
