The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona 01/27/2006 Roy Dean Johnson died peacefully Jan. 22, 2006 at RTA Hospice in Lakeside. Dean was born Jan. 2, 1922 in Blanding, Utah to Roy and Jennie Johnson. He married Edith Burtcher in the Mesa LDS Temple, Nov. 22, 1939. Dean was always a self-assured, hard worker. He worked for Salt River Project for 36 years and was instrumental in the design and operation of the Navajo Generating Station at Page where he was plant manager for five years. He and Edie moved back to Phoenix in 1977 and when he retired in 1985 he was manager of Project Management for SRP. He and Edie retired to Concho where they have spent 21 happy years. Dean's survivors include his wife, Edie, Concho; daughters Deana Boyce (Mel), and Donna Ambrose (Dennis), Concho; son Dennis (Cherryl), Riverside, Ill; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and sisters Della Allred, Thatcher, and LaVerde Gunter, Tempe. Funeral services were held in St. Johns at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, downtown chapel Jan. 25. In gratitude for the compassionate care Dean received from Hospice care givers, contributions may be made to RTA Hospital and Palliative Care, 1789 W. Commerce Dr. Lakeside, AZ 85929.
