Edward "Denny" Nielsen, 66, died, at his home in St. Johns, surrounded by loved ones Sept. 27, 2005.

His short fight with cancer taught his family great lessons about humility, love and quiet dignity. Denny was born Feb. 28, 1939 in St. Johns to E.Z. and Lula Nielsen. He attended St. Johns High School and after graduating attended one year at Brigham Young University, Utah. He was very talented and a jack-of-all-trades. He was a meat cutter at Triple S. Market for more than 18 years. He did refrigeration and electrical work, tuned pianos and farmed. He also loved music in all forms and was an avid photographer.

Later in life he worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Church Facilities Management group for 18 years. Denny's bright smile and great sense of humor and his beautiful tenor voice will be greatly missed.

His survivors include his mother Lula Neilsen; sons Edward Scott Nielsen and Darin Stewart Nielsen; daughters C. Jerrine Hollien and Dolly Patterson; brothers Lawson Nielsen; sisters Connee Jackson and Berta Ann Rogers; and eight grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his father E.Z. Nielsen and sister Loretta Jean Nielsen.

Funeral services were Friday, Sept. 30 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, downtown chapel in St. Johns.

Burnham-Jewkes Mortuary, St. Johns handled the arrangements.
