Herbert C. (Chuck), Jr. Hilton

Herbert C. “Chuck” Hilton Jr. was born March 18, 1928 in Bradford, Penn., and passed away Dec. 7 after a lengthy illness.

He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps, which he joined at age 15 after stretching the truth about his age. He served with the Fourth Marine Division, participating in the first assault wave on Iwo Jima, where he earned a Purple Heart.

He was a lifetime member of the Wickenburg Marine Corps League, serving as chaplain for two years. He was also a member of the Fourth Marine Division Association - Grand Canyon Unit, Wickenburg Elks Lodge 2160, the American Legion Post 12, and a patron member of the National Rifle Association.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years Diane; son Chuck III (Agnes); daughters Kimberly Poyner (David) and Patricia; grandchildren Briana, Brendan, and Ashley; and brother Gary (Debbie) of Big Pine, Calif.

Services are pending and entrusted to David’s Desert Chapel Funeral Home.
