Emil Kielberg, Sr. was born in Denmark in 1853. He emigrated to the USA in the late 1870s, and became a citizen of the United States of America in 1882. He homesteaded a 160 acre ranch in Aravaipa Canyon where he and his wife, Ida Bliese Jorgensen Kielberg had 1000 peach trees, along with plum, apricot and pear trees and 1/2 acre in blackberries. He purchased the 16 to 1 mine (Graham County - in what is now Kielberg Canyon) from Charlie Dike in 1904. Also named for Emil Kielberg, Sr.: Kielberg Creek, Kielberg Peak, Kielberg Dam and Kielberg Tank (reservoir). He had one son, Emil Kielberg, Jr. He passed away November 25, 1916. Grave unknown. |
