Funeral Saturday For D. W. Hammon

Funeral services for Davis Welborn Hammon, 73-year-old Wickenburg resident; are tentatively set for 4 p.m. tomorrow (Saturday) at the Wickenburg Chapel with burial following in the Wickenburg Cemetery.

Mr. Hammon, affectionately known as "D. W.," died in Community Hospital Wednesday afternoon.

Born in DeLeon, Tex., September 12, 1882, he came to Arizona in 1916, settling first in Octave where he was a miner. He came to Wickenburg in 1923, worked for the highway department, was school custodian for 12 years, hauled mail for nine years and was post office custodian for 171/2 years, a position from which he retired this summer. He was married in 1901 to Minnie E. Dowdy. They observed their 54th wedding anniversary Sunday.
Surviving are the widow and these children: Floyd, Blythe; L. D., Phoenix; Mrs. Mildred Taylor, Hanford, Calif.; Mrs. Anna Faucey, Durham, N. H.; Mrs. Ruth Hanna, Morenci; John H., Mansfield, 0.; Davis, Jr., Oroville, Calif.; and Mrs. Rosa Harrison, Fresno, Calif. Two children are deceased. There are 17 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Church Of Christ Conducts Funeral
For D. W. Hammon
Funeral services for D. W. Hammon were conducted at Wickenburg Chapel at 4 o'clock last Saturday afternoon with Rev R. V. Davis, pastor of the Glendale Church of Christ, officiating. Music was furnished by Mr. & Mrs. Milton Sanders, Paul Sharp and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Mann, all of Glendale.
Pallbearers were George Wentworth, Miles Preston and Delbert Kirby of Wickenburg and Robert Mann, Jack Bomar and Paul Sharp of Glendale.
Burial was in the Wickenburg Cemetery.
Mr. Hammon died in Community Hospital October 19.
