Rites Saturday For V. A. Powell, Aguila Pioneer

Final rites will be held Saturday for Venie Allen Powell, pioneer rancher of the Aguila area, who passed away Tuesday afternoon at the McDowell Clinic in Phoenix, following a short illness.

The body will lie in state at the Wickenburg Chapel from 9 until 10:15 a.m. Saturday after which it will be taken to Aguila where graveside services and burial will take place at the Aguila cemetery.

Mr. Powell, who was 82 years of age, was born in Wagon Wheel, Kan., and came to Arizona when only three years old. He moved to Aguila in 1911 and had operated cattle ranches in that vicinity since. Mrs. Powell passed away a few months ago.

Surviving are a daughter; Julia Powell and son, Alton R., both of Aguila and three sisters, Emma Boyer, Etta Fisher and Della Fryer, all of Phoenix. A grandson, Leon A. Powell, of Aguila, also survives.
