Funeral March 15 For John Overlan

The local American Legion post conducted military funeral services here at 8 o'clock last Thursday morning for John H. Overlan, who passed away the previous Tuesday at the Whipple veterans hospital, Prescott.

Mr. Overlan, more familiarly known as "Captain John," had been a patient in the hospital for six months. The funeral services were held at St. Anthony's Church with burial in the Wickenburg cemetery.

A resident of Wickenburg for the past 32 years, Mr. Overlan was widely known here. Born in Boston, Mass., June 19, 1882, he was a marine engineer before coming to Arizona. He and Mrs. Overlan owned property just off the Phoenix highway a few miles southeast of town. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War I.

The surviving widow, Mrs. Vivian Overlan moved to Prescott when her husband entered the hospital there.
