Arlene June Berndt Evans

Our Mother and grandmother Arlene June Berndt Evans passed into a better place with our Lord, Feb. 7, 2008, at home in Chino Valley, Ariz. She was born in Pontiac, Mich., July 9, 1927, to Edith V. Grover and Clarence A. Berndt.

She married her love and our dad, Kenneth K. Evans in 1946. He preceded her in death in 1978. She was a stay-at-home mom, which is all she ever wanted to be.

She is survived by a sister Audrey Wood of Holly, Mich.; and three children, Gregory K. Evans of Chino Valley, Kyle C. Herman (husband Thomas J. Herman) of Chino Valley and Gayle J. Treiber (husband Ronald M. Treiber) of Peoria, Ariz. There are three grandchildren, Kenneth G. McDaniel, Sharon A. Drake and Andrea M. Dean, of the Phoenix area. There are six great-grandchildren, Breanna, Jennifer, Celes Christina, Calista and Chance; and her ever-faithful poodle Sugar.

Arlene loved her family more than anything and participated in Girl Scouts and the PTA serving as leaders in both organizations. She supported all of our endeavors with love and candor. She lived in Rochester, Mich., until 1968 when she moved to Glendale, Ariz., then to Phoenix until 2000 when she move to Chino Valley to live with daughter Kyle due to her health. She was a member of the Church of Latter-day Saints for many years and worshipped at the Del Rio Ward in Chino Valley.

A Celebration of Life Memorial will be 1 p.m. Feb. 22, 2008, at the Chino Valley Funeral Home, 480 W. Palomino, Chino Valley. There will be a lunch and gathering of friends and family at her home in Chino Valley following the memorial. All who knew and loved her are welcome.
