Vera Mae (Vondracek) Snyder

Vera Mae Snyder, 86, formerly of Prescott, Ariz., died at 3:25 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Frontenac, Kan. She recently came into the care of the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Program.

Vera was born Oct. 27, 1921, in Dante, S.D., to Joseph Anthony and Anna Frances (Koupal) Vondracek. She graduated from Yankton High School and attended Yankton College in S.D.

On Oct. 27, 1940, she married Earl F. Snyder. He preceded her in death on May 7, 1981.

She worked with the U.S. Veterans Medical

Center in Hot Springs, S.D., starting as kitchen staff and finishing as a purchasing agent before t ransfer r i ng to U.S. Veterans Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz. She retired in 1978.

She is survived by her daughter, Sharon L. Bengtsen and her husband Barry of Pittsburg, Kan.; son Dr. Darrell Snyder and his wife Beryllin of Palos Park, Ill.; grandchildren Colin A. Bengtsen of Pittsburg and Dr. Dana C. Malis and her husband Michael; and two great-grandchildren, Owen and Audrey Malis, all of Overland Park, Kan.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents and sister Ruth Weisz.

Private family services will be at a later date in Prescott, Ariz.
