Donald Martin Frank

Donald Martin Frank, age 65, passed away on Tuesday, Nov; 13 at Hospice of the Valley in Surprise, Ariz., with his wife and daughters by his side.

He was born to Martin Wilhelm Frank and Marguerite (Neumann) Frank on April 18, 1942 at home in Essexville, Mich.

He began first grade at Immanuel Lutheran School in Bay City, Mich.
Don moved to Phoenix in 1953 where he attended Garfield Public School. He graduated from grammar school at Maye Barlett Heard School. He was confirmed at the age of 12 at Zion Lutheran Church. He graduated from West High School in Phoenix in 1959. Don attended Arizona State University for one year, majoring in accounting.

He worked for UPS in Phoenix and Wickenburg for more than 35 years before retiring in 1999.

Don had many interests. He was a lover of music and the arts. He loved nature and enjoyed traveling from coast to coast enjoying the scenery, especially old barns.

He had a passion for service and volunteering in. the community and devoted much of his time to Habitat for Humanity, the Lions Club, and the Del E. Webb Center for the Performing Arts, and the PTA. He also volunteered much of his time to the First Presbyterian Church where he was a member for the past 27 years, including taking part in mission trips to Rancho Agua Viva in Ensenada, Mexico, for the past 13 years.

Don was honored by the Lions Club with the "Lion of the Year" award in 2002-03 for outstanding service, loyalty and devotion, and the prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow Award for dedicated humanitarian services. In 2004 he was presented with a plaque from the Wickenburg Chamber of Commerce for outstanding community service. As a humble man, Don was appreciative of these honors, but his real reward came from the joy he received helping others.

Don will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his loving wife Sheri, mother Marguerite Wissmann of Mesa, daughters Penny Frank of Cottonwood, Ariz., Deanna (Frank) Parker of Phoenix, and Nicole Frank of Wickenburg; stepdaughters Ronda Johnson and Danielle Owens both of Phoenix, Stephanie Kleine of Bermuda Dunes, Calif., Jamie Kent and Kathryn Turner both of Wickenburg; stepson Mitchell Earl of Hendersonville, N.C.; sisters Carol Lang of Fenton, Mo., Joy Wujek of Alexandria, Ohio, Shelley Beattie of Bay City, Mich., and brother Bradley Coch of Atlanta, Ga.; and their mother Lovelle Frank of Bay City, Mich.; grandchildren Arial Denmark, Cypress Vigueria, Teira Kerstiens, Jessi, Peter, Adam, Chole, Savannah, Luke, and Matthew Kleine.

Arrangements are under the direction Wickenburg Funeral Home and Crematory.
