BY AN UNKNOWN ASSASSIN

An Old Stockman of Arizona Murdered in His Garden.

Phoenix, April 16. Jullian Lassell, an old resident and stockman of Cochise county, was found murdered at his ranch in the Whetstone mountains, eight miles west of St. David's, a Mormon settlement, at 6 o'clock on the evening of April 15th. Joseph Escaig, a partner of the deceased , and a mexican say that they left the ranch at 9 o'clock on the morning previous to the tragedy in a heavy wagon to go to Fairbanks. On returning to the ranch at 6 o'clock the next morning they found the man in the garden shot through the shoulder and bowels. The body was very much swollen and had apparently been dead several hours. A rifle, six shoulder and a saddle were missing, and the house had the appearence of having been searched for money. Sheriff Kolton has sent a posse, with trailers, to the scene of the murder, and it is thought that the murderers will be caught. Governer Murphy has offered a award of $300 for the apprehension of the perpetrators of the bloody deed.
