Lillian (Bueg) Steiner

Lillian Bueg Steiner was the only child born to Henry and Martha Bueg on July 26, 1916 near Tecumseh, Neb. She lived on a farm with her parents until her father died when she was 4 years old. She and her mother later lived with her maternal grandparents near Steinauer, Neb., until her mother married Jesse Burgert.

Lillian was raised with a younger brother, Leo Burgert, two cousins Aladene and Arlene Buente and four stepsiblings. She attended Pawnee City High School graduating in 1937.

On Nov. 6, 1937, she married Edmund Steiner. They lived near Table Rock, Neb., and later in Elmwood, Neb. To this union were born five sons and six daughters. In 1984, they retired to Prescott Valley, Ariz., where Edmund died in 1996. Six years later, Lillian relocated to Nebraska where she could live near her son Allen in Waverly. During the years of raising her family, Lillian also worked as a babysitter, church custodian, newspaper correspondent, short-order cook and housekeeper. Throughout her life, she was involved with various community, school and church activities including many years as a 4-H leader and preschool Sunday school teacher.

Lillian left this world on Jan. 31, 2008, to join her family in heaven. Her husband and three sons preceded her in death. She is survived by eight children, Sylvia Moore of Branson, Mo., Doralyn (Wayne) Cheney of Burnett, Texas, Eugene (Judy) of Columbus, Neb., Evelyn (Luis) Sanchez of Mesa, Ariz., Joyce of Patagonia, Ariz., Allen (Linda) of Waverly, Neb., Linda (Steve) Claasen of Tucson, Ariz., Cynthia (Ron) Sparenga of Chandler, Ariz.; 12 surviving grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz. Services will be at 3:30 p.m., Feb. 9, 2008, Prescott Valley United Methodist Church, 3601 N. Zircon Drive. Burial will be immediately afterward at Heritage Memorial Cemetery in Dewey. Following the internment, a reception will be hosted at the Prescott Valley United Methodist Church. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to Hospice of Tabitha, 4720 Randolph, Lincoln, NE 68510.
