Bill Layman, 70, of Prescott, Ariz., died Jan. 31, 2008, after an accident at his home.

He was born in Kansas City, Mo., on Aug. 21, 1937, but lived most of
his life in California.

He graduated from North Hollywood High School and then served four years in the United States Air Force and six years as a deputy with the LA County Sheriff’s Department. The remainder of his carrier was spent as a claims adjuster with Allstate Insurance Co.

Softball was Bill’s favorite recreation and he enjoyed playing Senior Softball in Prescott and Hemet, Calif.

He is survived by his wife Sandy and sons, Tom (Liz), Ken (Jeanette) and grandsons, Max, Will and John.
