BARNEY LANTRY DEAD -

The Well Known Kansas Democratic Politician Succumbs After a Long Illness.

Emporia, Kan. Dec. 9. Barney Lantry, one of the best known men in central Kansas died Saturday evening after a long illness.

He was one of the wealthiest men in Kansas, being a contractor and a cattle grower.

He ran for state treasurer on the democratic ticket in 1894, and was a leading figure in democratic politics.

He was an Irishman of about 63 years. He had been in Kansas for about thirty-five years. He owned about all the spare land in Chase county and was the father of the town of Strong City.
