Russell Boan

Russell Boan, 85, died June 23 [2003] at Tucson Northwest Hospital following a brief illness. He was born in Wright City, Okla., and moved to Arizona at the age of three. He spent many of his young years in the Bloody Basin area and witnessed the first motorized vehicle to enter the Basin in 1926.

He was a World War II Army veteran and moved to Oregon in the late 1960s to work for Weyerhouser Company. He retired from there in 1984 and returned to the Globe area where he resided until the time of his death.

Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law, Sam and Debbie Finley of Mesa; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Ron Ray of Globe; close friends and companions, Sue Rodgers and Roland Bills; four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter.
