Loretta (Lorie) (Kropf) Murphy

Loretta (Lorie, “Mom”) Murphy, passed away March 6, 2008, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center. Lorie was born Dec. 10, 1937, in Lowell, Mich.

Lorie is preceded in death by a son, Flint D. Murphy, and her mother, Barbara Kropf.

Lorie is survived by her husband of 50 wonderful years, James W. “Red” Murphy; son Keith and Debbie Murphy; daughter Dawn and Aubrey Waingrow; daughter, Valerie Murphy; sister Margie and Al Albert; brother Hank Havlik; grandchildren, Bryant, Shelbi, Shannon, Katlyne, April, David and Ashley; three great-grandchildren; numerous foster kids; and extended family and friends.

Lorie and Red were married on Sept. 28, 1957, in Prescott, Ariz. They ran an unsanctioned foster home in Chino Valley where they also owned and operated a feed store, “Murph’s Feeds,” for several years. Lorie was also an active member of The American Legion Post 40.

Lorie loved spending time in the outdoors camping, fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. Lorie was a very fun-loving person – her door was always open to anyone and everyone. Lorie touched the hearts of all who knew her and she will be missed greatly by all.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the American Legion Post #40, 650 Road 3 south, Highway 89, in Chino Valley, Ariz.

Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the American Cancer Society, Special Olympics or Stepping Stones.

Westcott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, Ariz., assisted the family with arrangements.
