Perralee C. Strand, age 72, of Mayer, AZ passed away May 27, 2005, along with her husband in a house fire.

Perralee is an Arizona native. She spent her childhood in the town of Perryville which her parents founded. After selling Perryville, her family moved to Phoenix and ran a motel on East Van Buren.

Perralee graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1950 and that same year married Harold. She received a teaching degree followed by a Masters degree from Arizona State University. She taught school for many years in the Washington Elementary School District.

Perralee and Harold shared 54 years of marriage. After retiring she and Harold spent five years touring the country before settling in Mayer. Since moving to Mayer, Perralee served as the Mayer Public Librarian and was a constant, dependable substitute teacher for the Mayer School District.

Her greatest pleasure was spending time with her two grandsons Hal and Curt. She had a wonderful sense of humor and tolerated Harold's bad jokes with style. Perralee touched the lives of countless children and she will be greatly missed by her family and numerous friends.

Survivors include daughter, Trudy GRUVER, son-in-law Glenn GRUVER and two grandsons, Harold and Curtis GRUVER all of Mayer.

A graveside service in honor of Perralee and Harold was held at the Mayer Cemetery.
