Mary Isabel Hernandez “Chona”

“Chona” went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 22, 2008, at Mountain View Manor in Prescott, Ariz., surrounded by family and friends. Mary was born in Mayer, Ariz., on July 8, 1937.

She is survived by her companion Jesse “Shorty” Guiterrez; children Rebecca Prince (Richard), Ralphetta Higuera (Ralph), Joseph Hernandez (Susie), Patrick Hernandez (Christina); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; sisters Pauline Diaz and Mary Russell (Steve); brothers Richard Olvera (Alice) and Robert Olvera; also several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, extended family and hundreds of friends.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Hernandez and grandson Jason Ceja.

Mary enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking and gambling at Bucky’s Casino

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, March 16, with Holy Rosary at 7 p.m. at Heritage Memory Mortuary in Prescott, Ariz. The funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Monday, March 17, at Sacred Heart Church in Prescott. Burial is to follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Prescott.

A special thanks goes to Dr. Lorraine Ralph, Dr. Candace Reid and YRMC Hospice.

Heritage Memory Mortuary assisted the family with arrangements.
