Arlan J. Hoffman

Arlan J. Hoffman, 80, passed away June 13, 2002 in Phoenix, AZ. Born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, Mr. Hoffman attended Columbia University and the Harvard School of Business Management.

He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, the former Dulcie Hatt, and his two daughters.

For the better part of his career he served on the professional staff of several local United Ways. His first assignment was as Executive Director of the Miami Dade County United Way from where he was recruited to head the United Way of Clark County Nevada. His last assignment was as President and CEO of the Valley of the Sun United Way. Considered a master of association management he took great pride in mentoring young people interested in the field. A skilled public speaker and astute manager he was also active in local affairs serving as a member of the Board of Directors of Blue Cross and Blue Shield, a Board member of the Diabetes Foundation and a member of Rotary 100. He retired in 1984 and as an avid RV'er he and his wife traveled extensively. Among his many interests he enjoyed boating, fishing and golf.

His wife wishes to acknowledge the kind and loving care tendered him by Martha Montano and Nurse Mary Pat Gertz. Funeral arrangements are pending. Donations are suggested to Hospice of Arizona, 2222 W. Northern Avenue, Suite A-100, Phoenix, AZ 85021
