Victoria (Strope) Gilliam

Victoria Gilliam died March 26 at Hospice Family Care Crossings Unit

in Prescott, Ariz. She was born Feb. 21, 1918, in Phoenix, Ariz., the daughter of Anthony and Isabelle (Sutherland) Strope. Victoria was 90 years old.

Victoria married the love of her life, Ewell, Oct. 11, 1934. They shared 47 years together before his death on Nov. 16, 1981. She was an active member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Like so many of her generation, she loved to sew, cook and collect recipes. She enjoyed music and dancing. She was proud of her family.

Victoria is survived by her daughter, Victoria Gilliam; grandchildren Elizabeth, Mary and Kelly; great-grandchildren Sierra, Shayla, Jamison, Keaton and Shonah; and her sisters, Dovie Hoehn of Phoenix and Kathryn Colachis of La Jolla.

She is preceded in death by her son, Glenn, Oct. 19, 1994.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carleton.

A celebration of Victoria’s life mass will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 150 Fleury, Prescott.

Final commendation and farewell will be 11 a.m. Friday, April 4, at Greenwood Memory Lawn, 2300 W. Van Buren St., Phoenix, Ariz.
