Clarence Brenton (Bud) Gilbert

Clarence (Bud) Brenton Gilbert was born March 29, 1924 to Thomas and Nellie French Gilbert in Scranton, Pa. he died at his home in Congress, Ariz. on Dec. 11, 2002.

Bud and Ida Breese were married on Dec. 6, 1951 in Cranbury, N. J.

Mr. Gilbert served during World War II in both the U. S. Army Air Corps and the U. S. Army. He was also involved in the construction of the St. Lawrence Seaway.

Mr. Gilbert has been a licensed Ham Radio operator since 1978 (KD6DW), and achieved the Class Advanced. Most recently he was focused on stained glass and wood working in his active retirement. He was also a participating member of the Escapees.

Mr. Gilbert is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ida; four children, Franklin J. Gilbert 9barbara); Nina Fatchett (Jack); Frances Eusebio (Dan); Clarence Brenton Gilbert Jr.; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as his brother Thomas (N.Y.), sister Harriett Booth (Fla.) and several nieces and nephews.

He is widely remembered for playing Santa clause by many young and old.
