Levi Chapman Cady, surrounded by his family, marked his transition on March 17, 2003, and offered to the world in that final artistic instant, a sunset, a rainbow, and a smile.

Born in Syracuse, NY, on April 11, 1922, Levi graduated from Syracuse University, served his country in WWII, and afterward built a successful career in advertising art. He became an artistic legend at Levitz Furniture following his relocation to Phoenix, AZ, in 1959, and he retired in 1993 as National Creative Director of the company. Lee enjoyed a pleasant afternoon on the golf course, a swift pedal on a bike, and a good joke. He was always generous in raising a toast to the good fortune of others. Lee loved his family and his family loved him.

His wife, Phyllis for 56 years of Orlando, FL, survives as the sparkle in his eye. Also surviving him are his children: Dan of Flagstaff, AZ; Pete of Phoenix, AZ; Sarah Flanagan of Orlando, FL; and Betsy Martin of Richmond, VT.

He enjoyed seven distinctive grandchildren - all with artistic whims born of his brush. According to his wishes, Lee's family honored his passing in a private ceremony at his home.
