Charles Richard Conner

Charles Richard Conner, 88, was born December 26, 1919, in Wilmington, OH, to Frank Hosteter Conner and Mary (Edwards) Conner. Charles passed away on March 18, 2008.

At age 17, after graduation from Wilmington Ohio High, Charles joined the U.S. Navy. He served six years regular hitch and 24 years in reserve.

Having been chief Boatswain on the USS Independence, CVL 22, he joined the “Indy” Reunion Group.

Charles worked at Yavapai College in Prescott for three years and made many friends. Before moving to Prescott in 1984, Charles retired from Dayton, Ohio, Power and Light, and also retired from The Feldman Apartments as maintenance technician.

Charles was a life long member of VFW Post 10227. He was also a member of Aztlan Masonic Lodge of Prescott.

Charles is survived by his wife of 32 years, Eunice Eileen, (former Town Council Member for 12 consecutive years); two sons, Thomas and Charles; two daughters, Mary Jager and Linda Johnson. Charles is also survived by three grandsons, Dan Devers Conner, (Nancy), Beau Jager (Jen Blau), Dustin Jager and great-grandson, Charles Conner.

Charles was preceded in death by his sister, Marge Smith of Wilmington, OH, and brother Frank of West Carrolton, OH, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, still living in various parts of the United States.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. March 28, 2008, at Trinity Lutheran Church on North Valorie Drive. Pastor Tim Blau will officiate
A light luncheon will follow.
