LaVerne Anderson

LaVerne Anderson, of Star Valley, Wyo., And Yuma, Ariz., passed away on March 19, 2008. She was born in El Monte, Calif. on March 2, 1944. Her family moved to Prescott in 1956. She graduated from Prescott High School in 1962. LaVerne attended Grand Canyon College, graduating in 1966 with a degree in Elementary Education and a minor in Music. She had married her high school sweetheart, Tom Fisher, in 1965. After graduation, she worked in the Phoenix school system while he finished his engineering degree.

In 1979, LaVerne and her family moved to Pocatello, Idaho, where she worked as an administrative assistant until her divorce in 1987. She moved to Idaho Falls, where she and married Jerry and they divided their time between Wyoming, Arizona and traveling.

LaVerne was an accomplished musician; singing solos in church and musical productions, playing the piano and organ, singing in her church choirs and at times being the leader. She discovered the joys of round and square dancing and thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of learning new dances. her husband of 14 years, Jerry; daughter, Cynthia Fisher of Pocatello, Idaho; son, Michael Fisher of Chesapeake Beach, Md.; twin sisters, Martha (Jack) Rose and Margaret (Dave) Kaufmann, both of Prescott, Ariz.; a brother, Noble (Doc) Elliff Jr. of Arkansas; grandchildren, Kailey Fisher, Dallas, and Roman Cunningham, Gabe and Justice Fisher, Brooklyn, Baylee, Sophia and Giles Anderson; numerous nieces and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Noble and Thelma Elliff.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 23, in the ballroom of the West Wind RV and Golf Resort, Yuma, Ariz.

The family thanks Hospice of Yuma for their compassionate care, making it possible for LaVerne to remain at home with family and friends until God called her home.
