Warren F. Saas passed away April 6, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz., at age 82. He was born Sept. 9, 1925, in Evanston, Ill., to Francis B. Saas and Luella (Vogelsang) Saas.

He grew up in the Evanston/St. Louis area and Belleville, Ill., before moving to Decatur, Ill., as a junior in high school. He was active in sports – mainly track – while in high school. He graduated from Decatur High School with honors and was salutatorian of the class of l943. After graduation, he volunteered for the infantry and fought in the Battle of the Bulge in Europe at age 19. After the war, he attended James Millikin University and the University of Kansas. He was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. He graduated from Kansas University in 1950 with a degree in Journalism. He was editor-in-chief of the University Daily Kansan for two semesters. His life work was selling advertising for various trade publications. He lived in Libertyville, Ill., for 33 years with his wife and family. After his retirement to Prescott in 1987, he was active in Republican affairs.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Jodie; three children, Kristy, David and Peter; and five grandchildren, Erik, Kyle, Laveda, Malcolm and Harry. He will be greatly missed by his family. Services for Warren will be next summer when the family can gather in Arizona.
