Maurice Ripley Peterson, 85, of Chino Valley, Ariz., born May 26, 1922, in Stevens Point, Wis., passed away April 9, 2008, at the Bob Stump VA Medical Center in Prescott, Ariz.

A celebration of Maurice’s life will take place at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at the American Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott, Ariz.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.

Maurice ‘Pete’ Peterson joined his heavenly family Wednesday evening.

He is survived by son, Todd and Todd’s loving wife Sharol;
grandchildren Jett, Christopher and Melannie; and great-grandchildren, Trinity and Christyl.

Pete was born in Stevens Point, Wis., in 1922. He served faithfully for the United States Navy in the South Pacific during World War II aboard the USS Tangiers and USS Yorktown. He settled in Oshkosh, and worked for Industrial Towel and Uniform in Neenah, Wis.

Pete retired in 1984, when he moved to Prescott, Ariz., where he could not sit still and continued to work and serve the community. He recently moved to Chino Valley, Ariz. His true friends are numerous in the places where he lived and worked. His unparalleled work ethic and wit remained with him until the end. His family, which included his pets (dogs, horses and donkeys), all brought him the happiest moments of his life. Pete will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered and greatly appreciated.

A memorial service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 16, 2008, at American Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive in Prescott.
