The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona January 20, 2005 Romero, Vicki Ann Hackbarth Vicki Ann Hackbarth Romero, 59, passed away unexpectedly January 17, 2005 at her Scottsdale residence. Born November 16, 1945 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Helen HACKBARTH. Survivors include her husband of 28 years, Roger; sister, Korlis CROOK; daughter, Cami (Mark) McCLUSKEY; grandchildren Molly and Max; son, Todd (Sherrel) CRANE; grandchild, Cameron; stepson, Roger (Bonnie) ROMERO; grandchildren Roger and Brittany and stepson, Michael ROMERO. Vicki graduated from Kofa High School in Yuma, AZ, and went on to receive a bachelor's degree in English Education from Arizona State University, a master's degree in Counseling and Student Personnel from Arizona State University and a doctorate degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northern Arizona University. She was also certified as an Arizona Superintendent. For the last 19 years, Vicki has been an independent consultant for VRA, Inc., the firm she founded. She was an accomplished and dedicated teacher, writer, presenter, researcher, interviewer, facilitator and problem solver. Her work and dedication in education over the years has impacted many students, teachers and administrators. Recently, Vicki was working at a number of charter schools in Arizona including Wilson High School and Excel Charter Schools where her extraordinary and visionary skills were making a true difference in the achievement and quality of instruction of the students in the schools. Vicki will be deeply missed by her family and friends. She was a loving wife, sister, mother and friend and a very special grandmother to her grandchildren. She cherished the time she spent with them. Visitation and Memorial Service both at Messinger Mortuary, 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85251.
