James Harbison

James (Jim) Maurice Harbison, 79, of Globe died July 1 [2003] at Cobre Valley Community Hospital. He was born in Maplewood, Mo., and had lived in Arizona 77 years.

He was a World War II Air Force veteran and longtime owner/operator of Globe Hardware. He was a member of Globe Optimist Club, Pinal Mountain Elks, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, and Chamber of Commerce.

He was also a Globe School Board member and past president and served on Globe City Council for many years. He was instrumental in moving city hall to its present location and helped procure 40 acres of land for Copper Rim School.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Harbison of Globe; two daughters and one son-in-law, Eileen Harbison of Claypool and Shirley and Bill Liles of Globe; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leonard and Eve Harbison of Larkspur, Colo., and John and Jeanne Harbison of Fayetteville, N.C.; two sisters, Betty Reed of Scottsdale and Norma Dee of Phoenix; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Thursday, July 3, at Pinal Mountain Elks Lodge in Globe.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. July 3 at Pinal Mountain Elks Lodge. Interment will follow in Globe Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Lamont Mortuary of Globe.
