The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona July 4, 2002 Floyd Delbert Hamman age 70, of Phoenix, went to be with his Lord and Savior, July 3, 2002. Floyd was born in Phoenix. He was a loving husband to Barbara and devoted father, stepfather and grandfather. Survivors include his wife Barbara, 4 sons, John (Linda), Randy (Christie), Del, Tom (Cheryl); step-daughters, Janet (Steve) GAGNON, Joan (Cliff) RISDON, Gina (Buddy) GARDNER, Darla GEORGE and 21 grandchildren and brother Larry (Alice) HAMMAN. Floyd attended Whittier Grammar School and North Phoenix High School. He graduated from Arizona State University with a BA degree majoring in marketing and advertising. He was proud of being a boy scout and rose to rank of Eagle Scout with 26 palms; Junior Assistant Scout Master at age of 16, Assistant Scout Master in 1950 and Scout Master of Troop 8 in 1953. He served in the Army Reserve from January 4, 1951 to January 17, 1960. He joined the Maryvale Lions Club in 1957 and held all offices in various Lions Clubs including International Director and received many awards for service. In 1981, he was Chairman of the Host Committee of the successful Lions International Convention held in Phoenix. Throughout the years he was an active Christian and found comfort in his Lord's teachings. Memorial Service was held in the First Baptist Church, 7000 N. Central, Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: Lions Sight and Hearing Foundation, 3427 N. 32nd Street, Phoenix, AZ 85018 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St., Phoenix, AZ 85014-5656. Floyd used the following Edgar A. Guest poem often in his speeches: "I'd like to think when life is done that I have filled a needed post that here and there I have paid my fare with more than idle talk and boast that I have taken gifts divine The bread of life and manhood fine And tried to use them now and then In service to my fellowman."
