Jean N. (McInturff) Amster

Jean N. Phelps Amster, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter,
sister and friend died on Monday, December 23, 2002, in Sierra Vista,
Arizona, in the presence of her son, Mark A. PHELPS. Jean was born
December 2, 1936 in Cleveland, Ohio and adopted by Julia NASH and
Daniel McINTURFF, who are deceased.

She married Richard PHELPS in 1955 and had three sons. While raising
her three sons, she attended Arizona State University and received a BA
degree in Special Education. Five years after her divorce from her
first husband, in 1990 she married Barton H. AMSTER (deceased).

Jean is survived by three sons, Mark A. & (Lynn) PHELPS of Fountain
Hills, Arizona, Paul D. & (Natalie) PHELPS of Sacramento, California
and David L. (Melanie) PHELPS of Cave Creek, Arizona, stepchildren,
Richard AMSTER, Somerville, New Jersey and Daryl AMSTER KING, Norfolk,
Virginia, two sisters, Rose Skip GRINNELL, Dunbar, West Virginia and
Adelia GRINNELL BLAKE, Dunbar, West Virginia, one brother, Wallace J.
GRINNELL, Port Clinton, Ohio and seven grandchildren. Jean will be
greatly missed by family and friends.

Memorial services were at Sunnyslope Presbyterian Church, 9317 N. 2nd
St. Phoenix, AZ 85020, 602.997-7231 and Faith Presbyterian Church, 2053
Choctaw, Sierra Vista, AZ, 520.378-9400.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her name, to Kartchner
Caverns State Park, PO Box 1849, Benson, AZ 85602 or to Faith
Presbyterian Church, 2053 Choctaw, Sierra Vista, AZ 85650.
