Larry J. Sparks, Sr.

Larry J. Sparks, Sr. passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Yuma Regional Medical Center. He was born in Salinas, California on January 20, 1938 and moved to Yuma in 1951 when he was 13 years old. Being an adventurous teen, he fell in love with the desert life.

Larry worked for the Department of Defense as a civil service employee at Yuma Proving Ground. He retired in 1997 after 22 years of service. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved the outdoors.

Larry is survived by his wife, Lynnea; his sons Larry Sparks, Jr. (Tiffany), of Yuma; James Sparks (Amber), of Hemet, California; John Sparks and Malcolm Sparks, both of Mojave, California; and grandchildren, Anastasia Anne and Christopher William, of Yuma; Aiden James, of Hemet; and John, Jr. and Joseph, of Mojave.

Larry was a person who did it his way and loved every moment of his life. He was deeply loved by his family and close friends and will be missed.

Per his wishes, there will be no funeral service for Larry. He wanted no fanfare. He only wanted to be cremated and taken home to be with his family whom he loved and was loved in return.

Arrangements are being handled by Johnson Mortuary.
