Frederick Wayne Reid, 66, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at his home in Prescott, Ariz.

Fred was born May 7, 1941, in Camp Verde, Ariz., to Ralph George Reid and Hester Burnett Reid. He was a former DPS Officer and Chief of Police at the VA Medical Center in Prescott.

He was a Past Director of The Frontier Days Rodeo Association. He loved to bowl, hunt, fish, garden, read and spend time with family and friends. Fred was a part of the committee responsible for the Fallen Officer Memorial in Yavapai County.

He was preceded in death by son Brian W. Reid.

He is survived by his wife Valerie Reid; children, Rhonda Pepich, Ronald Reid, Donald Reid, Tonya Gabaldon, Lonnie Reid, Jeannie Reid, and Shawna Wickersham; sister Vaudene Glotfelty; and step-brother Jack Preston. He was blessed with 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren and Karen Mattingly.

He was greatly loved and will be missed by all.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2008, at The Heights Church 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive in Prescott, Ariz.
