Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Saturday, April 19, 2008 Rodney Penn Allen died peacefully in his sleep after a long and courageous battle with emphysema on April 17, 2008. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Penn Jr., and younger sister Frieda Cade. He is survived by and was cared for with lots of love and devotion by his loving wife of 27 years, Louise; and his children, Deborah, Andrea and Shane; sisters Ernestine Boyce and Mitzi Adams; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Rodney was born in Batesville, Ark., on June 1, 1940, but lived most of his life in northern Arizona. Rodney retired in 1992 from ADOT after 33 years of dedicated service. He was a proud man with great moral values and was a great mentor to his children and grandchildren. We will deeply miss his wonderful sense of humor and devoted love. Viewing will be 10 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2008, at Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel in Prescott Valley, followed by funeral services at 11 a.m. Grave-side committal and final farewell will be 3 p.m. that day in Cottonwood at the Cottonwood Cemetery. The family has asked that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his name to St. Jude’s Children Research, P.O. Box 50, Memphis, TN 38101. Arizona Wakelin Bradshaw Chapel assisted the family with final arrangements. Information provided by survivors. |
