Cathern C. (C.C.) (Kibler) Mulcahy

Cathern C. Mulcahy, 86, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., born March 17, 1922, in Fries, Va., passed away at home on April 17, 2008.

C.C., as she was lovingly known by her family and friends, was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Dr. James J. Mulcahy. She is survived by her four children, James J. of Bath, N.Y., Michael P. of Santa Fe, N.M., Maureen of Littleton, Colo., and Patricia A. of Prescott Valley, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Funeral and burial will be in Santa Fe, N.M., on May 2, 2008. A memorial Mass in C.C.’s memory will be 10 a.m. May 6 at St. Germaine’s Church in Prescott Valley.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Germaine’s Church, Prescott Valley, Ariz.

A requiem mass will be celebrated in St. Michael’s Chapel in Santa Fe on May 2nd with burial in the Santa Fe National Cemetery alongside Dr. Mulcahy. Memorials in C.C.’s name can be made to Corning Hospice, Girls-Boys’ Town of Boys Town, Nebraska or St. Lawrence Seminary in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin.

Cathern C. Mulcahy, 86, of Prescott Valley, AZ, passed away April 17, 2008. She was fondly known as C.C. to her family and many friends.

She was born March 17, 1922, to Lessie L. and Joseph L. Kibler in Fries, Virginia. Cathern was raised and educated in Brewster, Ohio. C.C. graduated from Massillon State Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She attended Ohio State University until the start of World War II. At that time she entered and served in the U.S. naval Nursing Corps. While stationed at Camp Lejuenne, North Carolina, she met and married the love of her life, Dr. James J. Mulcahy, in 1944. In 1949, the Mulcahys moved to Corning, New York, where they resided at 304 Steuben Street.

C.C. became an active member of the Corning community. Her volunteer work included service in a local hospital chapter, the Rochester Regional Blood Bank, the Corning Library Board, and St. Patrick’s Church.

Upon Dr. Mulcahy’s retirement in 1986, they moved to Santa Fe, New Mexico. In 2004, C.C. moved to Prescott Valley, AZ.

She is survived by her four children: James J. Mulcahy of Bath, New York; Michael P. Mulcahy of Santa Fe, New Mexico: Maureen Gammill of Littleton, Colorado; and Patricia A. Cooper of Prescott Valley, Arizona. She was also blessed and loved by fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.
