Norman Ray McCleve

Posted 2010-01-22 by Karen
Norman Ray McCleve, born July 1, 1940 in Snowflake, Arizona and raised in Taylor, passed away on June 6, 2003.

He attended the Church College of Hawaii (BYU-Hawaii) and graduated from Arizona State University in 1967. Norman worked for Valley Nat'l Bank and Bank One for over 31 years as well as SkyMall and Emerald Solutions until his health declined.

We were blessed to have him enrich our lives as a loving husband, father and grandfather. We could always rely on him to be strong and fix nearly anything. He was a great example in teaching his three daughters and grandchildren to be independent as he instilled the love of learning and working hard in each of them.

Norman was a life-long member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving the Tongan people on a two and a half year long mission. He spent his life serving within the Church as Ward Clerk, Stake Financial clerk, High Priest Group Leader and Executive Secretary to three different bishoprics as well as various other callings. He taught us that nothing is as important as loving family and friends.

Norman is survived by his adored wife of 39 years, Iris Jeanene Hoopes, daughters Tonya Gale and her husband Val, Shawna and Charlotte, grandchildren Lauren, Erin, Brandon, Jake and Joshua, mother LaRue, four brothers Gary, Ken Vic and Lonnie and sister Carma.

He fought a good fight and won a mighty race. We'll love you forever and will miss you dearly.

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 10, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Tempe Mortuary, 405 E. Southern Ave., Tempe, AZ. Funeral Services Wednesday, June 11th at 10 a.m. with viewing on hour prior to service at the Grandview Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 2707 S. College Ave., Tempe. Burial at Thatcher Cemetery will be Thursday, June 12 at 11 a.m.
