Volney Douglas Matheny, age 83, of Prescott, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, in the Willow Wind Residence, in Prescott.

Doug was born the son of Thomas and Pauline (Miller) Matheny, on Jan. 25, 1922, in Mill Valley, Calif.

He was U.S. Air Force Veteran having served in World War II. Doug was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He enjoyed golfing and flying and was most proud of being a pilot for over 40 years and having served his country during World War II.

Doug is lovingly survived by his daughters, Pamela (Richard) Smith of Safford, and Genifer Lundstrom of Prescott; his grandchildren, Matthew,
Maha, Maya, Christopher, Lalita, Jaya and Tracy; also by great grandchildren, Thomas, Christian, Sparoh, Julia, Darshan, Asha, Antonia, Priya, Sylvanna, Maggie and Jadian.

Celebration of Doug's life will be at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 2000 Shepherds Lane, Prescott.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with
arrangements.
