Elizabeth Ann (Cole) Hyre

Mrs. Elizabeth Ann Cole Hyre, 78, resident of Cloverwood Meadow Lane, died Sunday, April 27, at her home.

Mrs. Hyre was born April 24, 1930, in Grafton, W.Va., a daughter to Dorsey and Nellie Fay Wallace Cole. Following her marriage in 1960, she moved to Michigan and, in 1990, moved to Arizona, where she lived 10 years prior to moving to High Point. She was a member of the Jamestown Presbyterian Church and the General George Crook Chapter of Daughters of American Revolution. Prior to her retirement, Mrs. Hyre was employed as an educator in the public school system. She was married to Stanley R. Hyre, who preceded her in death in 1995.

Surviving are a daughter, Debra Ann Wright, of Las Vegas, Nev.; one son, Kevin S. Hyre, and his wife, Tia, of Madison, N.C.; three grandchildren, Aaron Gaines, Darren Hyre and Garret Hyre; two sisters, Patricia Jean Sommerville and her husband, John, of Bridgeport, W. Va., and Barbara Sue Bryan and her husband, Elton, of Philippi, W.Va.; and one brother, Dorsey J. Cole Jr., and his wife, Charlotte, of Harrisonburg, Va.

A funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at the Chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service, High Point, with the Reverend Dr. Robert Sharman officiating. Visitation will be at the funeral home Wednesday one hour prior to the service.

Following the funeral service, Mrs. Hyre will be sent to Sunrise Funeral Home in Prescott Valley, Ariz., for burial at 1 p.m. Friday, May 2, 2008, in Heritage Memorial Park, Dewey, Ariz.
