Hickok, 86, of Prescott, Ariz., born July 21, 1921, in Clovis, N.M., passed away April 28, 2008, at Hospice Family Care Crossings in Prescott. A celebration of George’s life is pending at Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez, Prescott. --------------------------------------- Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Sunday, June 15, 2008 George B. Hickok died on April 28, 2008, in Prescott, Ariz. He was 86. George was born July 21, 1921, in Clovis, N.M. He married Mary Catherine Mollohan on May 21, 1943. In World War II, George served as an officer in the U.S. Infantry in Northern France, Central Europe and the Rhineland. He was awarded a Bronze Star medal and a Purple Heart. After the war, George earned a B.S. degree from Wichita State University and began his career as a petroleum geologist. He retired from Exxon Corp. in 1986 and moved to Prescott in 1987. George enjoyed walking his dog Molly and seeing many friends around the Yavapai County Courthouse every day. George is survived by his brother Robert Hickok of Irvine, Calif.; his three children, Kathy Hickok of Ames, Iowa, Michael Hickok and his wife Linda Doebel of Los Angeles, Calif., and Lisa (Hickok) Stoiber and her husband Randy of Denver, Colo. He also leaves five grandchildren, Monte, Kristabel, David, Anne and Lindsay Grace. George was preceded in death by his wife Mary in August 2007. A celebration of George’s life will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, 303 S. Cortez, Prescott. An interment ceremony with military honors will be 1 p.m. on the same day at the Prescott National Cemetery. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with the arrangements.
