JOE RILEY, CONGRESS RESIDENT, SUMMONED
By Inez Cannon

CONGRESS—Joe Riley, widely known and well loved resident of this community, passed away suddenly May 26, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Adams at Date Creek.

Mr. Riley was known and loved by everyone in this community. He was always anxious and ready to help those in need. He sat up nights to nurse the ill. No job was too small or too large for him to help with his neighbors.

For the past year Mr. Riley was custodian of the Congress School where he lived in the little white house on the school property. Riley, as we all called him took great pride in keeping the school buildings clean and spotless.

He was 73 years of age and was born in the state of Nebraska. There are no known relatives, but many friends will miss him in this community.
