Rodney "Rod" Lee Cowin, 66, of Prescott, Ariz., born July 11, 1943, in Oakland, Calif., passed away Jan. 14, 2010. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 2010, at the Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home, corner of Cortez and Carlton streets. A Celebration of Life will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Prescott Valley.

Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.

Rod died peacefully at his home on Thursday, January 14, 2010. He was born July 11, 1943 in Oakland, California; the son of Raymond and Delores (Steinbach) Cowin. Rod was 66 years old.

For those who knew Rod, once you met him you never forgot him. He had a passion for life and truly enjoyed talking to people, even if he had never met you. Rod and his wife, Kathleen, were married June 3, 1963 and they raised 6 children.

Rod was a member of the Operating Engineers and also The Heights Church. He was also quite a collector of hats and hot wheels, he enjoyed watching football, and of course, loved to brag about his kids and grandkids. Rod loved his wife dearly and was very proud of his 19 grandchildren and the fact he became an Eagle Scout at the age of 14.

Rod is survived by his loving and caring wife, Kathleen, of 46 years, children; Angela of Colorado Springs, CO, Denise (Doug) Radzanowski of Colorado Springs, CO, Kristia (John) Lewis of Colorado Springs, CO, Nicole (Mike) Garitano of Colorado Springs, CO, Rodney (Amanda) Cowin of Prescott, AZ, Trina (Chris) Kline of Westminster, CO, grandchildren; DJ, Cameron, Jacob, Jeremy, Austin, Kathleen, Sawyer, Elliot, Gabriella, Kaylee, Geremiah, Linzy, Chandler, Genevieve, Christian, Micah, Gracelynn, Aubrey, and Brennan.
