Joseph U. Parra, 91, of Prescott Valley, Ariz., passed away on Monday, May 5, 2008, at Yavapai Regional Medical Center in Prescott Valley, Ariz., with his family by his side.

Joseph was born Oct. 9, 1916, in Mexico to Manuel and Teresa (Urias) Parra. He had four brothers and four sisters. Joe and his family moved to Prescott, Ariz., in 1917. He has been a lifetime resident and worked as a miner and pilot for many years. On Oct 31, 1968, he married Gloria (Ortega) Parra.

He was a very loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great-grandfather. Joe is survived by his wife Gloria Parra of Prescott Valley; sons Joseph Parra of Phoenix, Ariz., Mario Parra and fiancée Shanti Cobb of Prescott Valley; daughters Alicia Manriquez and husband Bobby of Chandler, Ariz., and DeeDee DeCosta and husband Joe of Las Vegas, Nev. ; daughter-in-law Michele Parra of Prescott Valley; sister Edna Hernandez of Peoria, Ariz.; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christina, Alexandria, Jessie, Alliyah and Izabella; and four great-grandchildren, Zach, Ashley, Gianna and Sebastian. He will leave behind many nieces and nephews. Joe will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2008, at Sunrise Funeral Home, 8167 E. Highway 69, Prescott Valley, Ariz.

Sunrise Funeral Home assisted the family with final arrangements.
